About
Hi, my name is Richard Averillo, and I am a freelance professional photographer. I am very passionate about photography and I love the joy it brings to the lives of so many people.
I always had an interest in photography from an early age, but it became more serious for me back in 1996. I visited a shop called Fox Talbot, which used to be on Tottenham Court Road back then. I bought a second-hand Canon AE-1, along with a 50mm lens. That was that, photography has been a huge part of my life ever since! I still have this camera, although it hasn’t been out of it’s bag for a good while. It has great sentimental value for me, and I find it difficult to part with.
Although I started out with a Canon, I have been a Nikon user for a long time now. My current ‘kit’ includes the Nikon mirrorless Z5II which was just released in April 2025, and a much older (but still amazing), Nikon D750.
Canon and Nikon both manufacture excellent cameras and lenses. They tend to leapfrog each other with new technology and features. When choosing between the two, I feel it just comes down to personal preference.

When it comes to style, mine has changed significantly over the years, and that is a really positive thing. The reason this is a good thing is, having an interest in different styles has given me a lot of experience with many genres of photography. I enjoy all types of photography, from weddings, sports and people to animals, landscape and architecture.
If you require a professional photographer, then please drop me a line. I am based in Birchington on the north Kent coast.
I hold both public liability insurance and a valid, up-to-date DBS Certificate.
