A brief introduction about me

Hi, I’m Richard, event photographer.
Thanks for checking out my page, I hope we click.

Photography is a real passion of mine, and I love watching it bring joy to so many people. It has been a defining part of my life for as long as I can remember. What began as a childhood fascination became a true passion in 1996, when I purchased my first camera – a second‑hand Canon AE‑1 from the former Fox Talbot shop on Tottenham Court Road. That camera marked the beginning of my photographic journey, and I still keep it today as a reminder of where it all started.
Over the years, my skills, style, and technical approach have developed (pun absolutely intended) significantly. Although I started out using Canon, I now work solely with Nikon.
My current ‘kit’ includes the Nikon mirrorless Z5II which was just released in April 2025, and an older (but still amazing), Nikon D750. These two cameras are both ideal for fast – paced event photography, where reliability, sharpness, and adaptability are essential. Canon and Nikon both manufacture excellent cameras and lenses and the choice really comes down to personal preference. I choose the camera system that feels most comfortable and allows me to work quickly and confidently during busy event photography assignments.
As a professional event photographer, I specialise in capturing the authentic moments that make each occasion memorable. From weddings and engagements to private parties, sports events, and community functions, I aim to tell the story of your event through natural, high‑quality images.
I believe that great event photography is a blend of anticipation, timing, and technical precision. No two events are ever the same, and each one requires a thoughtful balance of creativity and skill to document it meaningfully. Whether I’m working in challenging lighting or fast‑moving environments, my goal is to create images that not only record the event but truly capture its atmosphere.

My photography style has evolved significantly over time, giving me valuable experience across many genres. Exploring different techniques and visual styles has allowed me to develop a strong, versatile skill set — something essential in professional photography. Each new challenge brings fresh camera settings and creative problem‑solving, helping me continually improve my skills.
Although I enjoy all types of photography, my business is built around event photography. I specialise in capturing real moments as they unfold. My approach focuses on storytelling, attention to detail, and producing high‑quality images that clients can treasure and use with confidence.
